"Be My Witnesses"

“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words of him the Son of man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the Holy angels.” Luke 9:26

Jesus taught his disciples that if anyone desires to follow him, he must be willing to count the cost of his life. I believe this verse is summarized into three words, “Be My Witnesses" (Matt. 5:16)! Point Blank! Luke 9:26 seeks to answer the question, Who are Jesus’ witnesses? A witness is a person who first acknowledges his need for a Savior. He repents that he is a sinner (Rom. 3:23), and confesses with his mouth that Jesus is God's son and that He died, was buried, and was raised from the grave (Rom. 10:9-10). These actions are the first steps to being a witness of Christ (Matt. 4:19).  As this person is working out his salvation, he is progressing in his faith which leads to maturity. He is not ashamed to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. God is his helper, and he depends on the Holy Spirit's guidance (Zec. 4:6).

God has blessed humanity with living life to the fullest by exploring all opportunities at their disposal; seeking after the common good of all people through compassion; having an open mind to learn from others, and be challenged by those we encounter, and so much more. Man has many choices (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). If one desires to know Christ, he will gain a great foundation. He will increase in spiritual knowledge and fulfillment by following Christ’s example. This person will be on the right track, and as a result, God and all of heaven will rejoice and be magnified! On that beautiful day, when we see Jesus Christ, He will say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant (Matt. 25:21).”

This person will leave this world with the satisfaction of knowing that his heart and his mind were set on the things above, not on earthly things (Col. 3:2)! "Be My Witnesses!"
