Why Worry

“Do not worry about your life.” Luke 12:22

Nothing should consume our time, in particular food, our bodies, or clothing. Ephesians 5:16 says we must redeem each moment we are given in life because the days are evil. Our humanity has us worrying about what is minuscule to God. God who clothes the fields, can obviously clothe His creation. “Worry and anxiety not only fail to accomplish anything, they also form a springboard for other problems. Worry is a crippling emotion that paralyzes us. It bogs us down emotionally, making us virtually useless for anything else. In addition, it leads to other sins.* ‘Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil’ (Ps. 37:8b).” As believers in Jesus Christ, we are citizens of heaven, passing through the earth. Although our stay may seem lengthy, the Bible says that God’s time clock is like 1000 years compared to ours. Imagine Sarah, at the age of 99 years of life was told by an angel of God that she would conceive a child. Really! She laughed. I would have fainted in disbelief! New beginnings were in store for her. Yet, she worried not only about who this child could be, but how he would come.

Years spent on worry can affect our physical organs and our emotional well-being if we allow worry to pervade our hearts. Even if things do not turn out the way we have planned in life, God is still in control, and we must “be still” and trust Him in all matters of life.

Luke 12:22 states God’s protection over us. He keeps us safe. He gives us what we do not deserve. He provides all our needs, but we must wait on Him so that He can produce a harvest of righteousness in us. Our lives must be dedicated to God so that we can walk worthy of His call (Eph 4:1). His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matt 11:29). His call brings joy and everlasting peace on earth. God is not concerned with what we will eat, or wear. He is not concerned with our bodies, because He is the sustainer of all things essential for life. We can trust in the Lord with everything He has given to us. We must cast all our burdens on Him and He promises to provide for us.

Keep in mind:

If we find ourselves overcome by worry concerning trivial things, we will surely worry about extensive things. They are the same to God. He can handle it all!

“Trust and obey for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey!” Amen.

Encourage and Be Encouraged!
